Preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Village are nearing completion as it gets ready to welcome athletes. The village, located in Saint-Denis, will host over 20,000 athletes for both the Olympics and Paralympics, utilizing existing structures where possible. Athletes are expected to start arriving on July 18.
The village is equipped with various facilities, including a fitness center, a doping control center, and a club for athletes to relax. The Olympic Games will run from July 26 to August 11, followed by the Paralympics from August 28 to September 8.
The village features images of ‘the Phryges,’ the Games’ mascot, on its walls. Earlier this year, the decision not to install air conditioning in the village caused some controversy among delegations, with some planning to bring their own cooling solutions. Laurent Michaud, the village director, assured that “on-the-floor cooling systems” will be in place to maintain comfortable temperatures.
