Urban Sketchers Baguio recently held its monthly sketch walk at Igorot Garden on June 19, 2026, bringing together artists and enthusiasts who share a passion for drawing on location and capturing everyday life through art.
Urban Sketchers Baguio continues to invite people of all ages and skill levels to join its activities. Participants sketch together, draw by observation, and are free to use any art medium they prefer. The group promotes an inclusive environment where beginners and experienced artists alike can participate and learn from one another.

Urban Sketching is part of a global non-profit organization and movement dedicated to showing the world “one drawing at a time.” Through on-location drawing, sketchers create visual records of places, communities, and moments in time while celebrating authentic scenes of everyday life. The movement encourages artists to draw from direct observation, support one another, and share their work online.
One of the group’s administrators, Mary Rae Rigonan, highlighted how urban sketching contributes to tourism. “It plays a role as one of the ways of sustainable tourism,” she said. She explained that by observing, drawing on location, sharing artworks online, and simply being physically present, sketchers document time and place while showcasing the city’s raw and authentic scenes.

The group has been active for two years and officially became part of the worldwide Urban Sketchers network last year. It is currently the only official Urban Sketchers chapter in the Cordillera region and among the few recognized chapters in Northern Luzon. Urban Sketchers Baguio looks forward to organizing more sketchwalks across Baguio and nearby cities. Previous sketchwalks have been held at Wright Park, Malcolm Square, Bayan Park, City Hall grounds, Botanical Garden, Benguet Museum, and Strawberry Lane during the Strawberry Festival. This month, the worldwide organization also welcomed new official chapters in cities across Germany, Korea, and France, among others, reflecting the continuing growth of the Urban Sketchers movement around the world.
